Backyard Wedding in Kennebunkport Maine | Dana and Patrick
These two, oh my goodness. When I talked with Catie at Destination Maine Wedding about this last minute wedding over Memorial Day Weekend she let me know that the groom called her, telling her he was in tears writing his vows. I got to take a quick glance at his, and Dana’s before their ceremony and I knew this was going to be the most amazing, intimate wedding we’ve had the pleasure of witnessing.
Dana and Patrick, like many couples found themselves overwhelmed by the idea of a large, formal event. They still have one coming up to celebrate with all their family and friends but decided, rather last minute, that they wanted to also have a day with just the two of them to enjoy the moment. With less than a week’s notice they decided to take a trip up to Maine for the weekend and marry each other in a beautiful backyard wedding on the ocean in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Since it was such a small event, we all gathered at the house before the wedding waiting for Dana and Patrick to arrive. Catie prepped snacks for us while Dean and I practiced tying the ropes for the couple’s nautical rope ceremony. We wanted to make sure we had the knots down so if the couple needed help, we were ready! I have several behind the scenes photos of Dean helping both Dana and Patrick with their knots pre-ceremony. I’m pretty sure there’s some sea-faring law that now ties him in marriage to both of them!
It was such a pleasure to get to work with them for their small, intimate wedding on the ocean! I can’t wait to hear about how their big day went with family and friends as well! I’m sure filled with the same laughter and tears they shared with each other here in Maine.
