Custom USB Drives | Maine Wedding Photographers
One of the best things about this time of year? The holiday sales! But as Maine wedding photographers a lot of our holiday shopping revolves around stocking up on tech gear for the business. I know, it doesn’t sound exciting, but it actually is! It’s super fun to get lots of packages in for things we need to run the business, from cameras and external hard drives to take and store all your memories on, but then also getting in new custom USB’s to send YOU all your memories on.
This year we ordered our custom USB drives from USB Memory Direct for these Rounded Card Flip Drive. They are 8GB cards just a bit larger than a silver dollar. Did I just show my age with that one? They’re pretty awesome! As you can see below they perfectly fit our logo, which is always nice to find! There are several different varieties of the Card drives over on their site including squares and different types of flips for the actual USB section.
Custom USB Drives
With all of our weddings and some of our family portrait sessions we include a custom USB with the finished images so having a fun and functional USB drive is key! These ones from USB Memory Direct are pretty perfect - they fit our logo, they’ll fit all your images, and there’s a hole in the top of the card which is perfect for threading some on-brand colored ribbon through and tying it around our wedding thank you gift. (We can’t show that and spoil the surprise!).
Like most USB drives you have a 50/50 shot of inserting it into the USB slot on your computer the right way - I get it wrong 100% of the time. I’m pretty sure we all do! These flip cards are a bit thinner than a stick USB so it took me a minute to figure out how to put it into the USB hub on my desk. Once I put it in the right direction it fit in snug and didn’t slide out. The drive promptly showed up on my computer as “No Name” and I was able to right click and rename to a custom name. While putting in “Two Adventurous Souls” was too long for the name, I was able to put in my couples first names. Another option I use often is typing in the date of the wedding/session as the name.
While their size is a little on the small size, you can completely fill the front of the card with a custom image. A lot of USB drives we’ve used in the past only allow a small section to be customized but with these Rounded Card Flip Drives you can go nearly all the way to the edges of the card!
