Liz and Peter hail from New York but have been vacationing in Maine for years at Liz’s family beach house just up the coast. It was only natural that they chose The Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport for their wedding. With it’s classic architecture hailing back to an era when Maine was a weekend destination for New York’s elite. Standing on a hill overlooking the beach, you can almost picture men and women dressed in their Sunday best, carrying parasols and strolling the beach before heading back to the hotel for high tea. As Maine Wedding Photographers, The Colony Hotel is one of our favorite venues!
Most brides hope for a sunny day on their wedding, I was one of them - we too had fog on our wedding day. But I’ve come to love really enjoy the romantic and intimate feel of a foggy day. The morning of Liz and Peter’s wedding there was a thin layer of fog coming off the water and we knew the light was going to be amazing for their day! It did however burn off just in time for the most amazing sunset for these two!
Liz started her day at The Colony in one of the large rooms with her girls as everyone had their hair and make up done. It was so much fun with family and friends stopping by throughout the morning to see how everything was going and share in the excitement! While the girls were prepping the guys were hanging out down the hall sipping on whiskey and sharing stories in the library.
Being in the fashion industry it was only natural that Liz, her girls, and the moms were dressed to perfection and the guys were looking handsome. Everything from the suits and dresses, accessories and shoes were so perfect, I could have photographed them all day! Liz and Peter looked like they stepped off the pages of a bridal magazine!
