Fine Art Friday | Northern Lights Photographer
I am by no means a pro Northern Lights photographer! Dean is our night sky guy, he's out nearly every night the moon isn't photographing the stars and night landscapes - you can check out his fine art stuff over at Wanderland Photographic. But it was a fun night in northern Maine none the less. I had photographed a wedding in Acadia National Park the day before so we trekked up to Baxter State Park where we have some family for a visit. Turns out there was a budding solar storm! So that night we packed up our gear just after sunset and headed out to the lakes around Mount Katahdin. I came along for the ride, to see the sights, and drive around on the backroads at midnight but I did manage to get a few images in which was exciting. While the Northern Lights appeared on camera they were too faint to see in person except for a slight glow on the horizon. One day I hope to be able to see them with my eyes alone. I guess a trip to Iceland is in order!
