Jessica & Chad - After the Wedding | Maine Wedding Photographer
What exactly is an "after the wedding" shoot? Well you may notice these images are all just what we call formals - some photographers call this the "trash the dress" session. Either way, no dresses were harmed in the making of this shoot (and usually aren't unless you really want to go crazy).Jessica & Chad had a fabulous wedding a few months prior to this shoot but unfortunately it rained on their wedding day and they were unable to get the outdoor portraits they really had hoped for. They contacted me and we met up at Fort Popham for their after the wedding shoot. I really love this type of session. It's great to not have to rush around to get a great variety of shots in the short time that is usually available during weddings. I even brought along my 2nd photographer (the hubs) to work with me. He did a fabulous job getting some of the natural light images and setting up my lights so I could capture some really stunning portraits that had that lighting "edge". It was fun to get to experiment with some new techniques that I've used since this shoot at weddings and portrait sessions. Now I've got them down like the back of my hand so whipping up some shots similar to these with studio lighting is now a breeze when there's a time crunch. Thank you to Jess & Chad for letting me be uber creative with lighting during your session! I appreciate that you chose to contact me for your After the Wedding session.
Love the black and white image in the below right. My hubs captured that one while I was shooting the others with the studio light. I love to mix studio and natural light shots. While natural light is my all time favorite way to photograph outdoors, look at how the skies pop with amazing color and detail when I used a studio light.
