Vendor Tour: Overlook at the Point | Maine Wedding Photographers
I feel like the weather is against me! Every time I've toured a venue this winter - it's been snowing. Every. Time.
Overlook at the Point is a great new DownEast venue in Georgetown, Maine! The drive out is amazing. From the south you'll pass through Brunswick with all of it's noteworthy unique eateries and then through historic Bath. From there you'll hang a right and head towards Five Islands where the drive gets really beautiful. As you're approaching Overlook at the Point you turn a corner and you're hit with an amazing view of the ocean. When I first drove in there were a bunch of people in the mud flats digging for clams. It doesn't get much more Maine than that scene right there! At first glance Overlook looks very much like a Sea Captain's home, later Clara, Overlook's owner, told me the home was originally built for an Admiral. Score one for me for being able to call it! When you first walk up to Overlook you enter through the the covered, wrap around porch into the bright and welcoming sunroom. From there you step into the main dining room with seating for at least 12 people and the large dining table next to a fireplace. The kitchen is perfect for entertaining your wedding guests! There's a big stove overlooking the kitchen table, with bright windows on all sides. I can totally see a bride getting hair and make up done with all her maids in the kitchen while there's a big buffet of food on the kitchen island. It's a great gathering space! Another favorite room of mine is the Library area. In here, I can see the guys hanging out, drinking a few beers and getting ready for the day the way that the guys always do - just relaxing (how unfair - am I right??) The upstairs has four bedrooms including the bridal suite with an attached "tower" room that's rounded with windows looking out at the magnificent ocean view. This room I see as either a perfect place to capture the bride and her bridesmaids getting into their dresses. Clara plans on outfitting the ceiling light with a hook perfect for hanging the brides dress for photos. The other option for this room would be a great space for an intimate dinner for two either pre- or post-wedding to really just take in the moment.
I can't wait to see Overlook during the summer months! There are so many beautiful plants that are just waiting for this silly snow to melt so it can peek through! Here's the beautiful "tower" room where I can see a bride stepping into her dress with all that beautiful light and views for days. I love this cozy Library room. I can see a groom and his buddies relaxing in here waiting for the ceremony to start.
