Pemaquid Lighthouse Wedding Photos | Bristol and Kennebunkport, Maine | Liz & Christine
So. The story goes that if there's rain on your wedding day it's good luck right? Well how much luck can one couple have when their day is forecasted for 80% chance of rain and there's not a cloud in the sky???? That takes some serious good weather juju but Liz & Christine managed just that for their Pemaquid Lighthouse Wedding followed by their reception in Kennebunkport, Maine. This is one of those weddings that really sticks in your mind because everything worked out amazingly! Which was especially a blessing as all their friends and family had made the trek up to Maine for the weekend for the wedding.
I started my day with the brides at their hotel in Kennebunkport for some getting ready images and to catch the party bus for the two hour trip up to Pemaquid Lighthouse for their ceremony. So it started off with the bus breaking down on it's way to pick us all up. Both ladies handled that big stressor with grace and a replacement bus was only a few minutes behind the original schedule. We spent most of the bus ride up analyzing the weather. With the reports saying 80% chance, we were constantly bouncing back to the hourly report and it looked like the rain would move in just after 3pm, just enough time for the ceremony and portraits before jumping back on the bus. It. Never. Rained. I always tell my couples, if they think it might rain, buy a bunch of fun umbrellas and chances are it won't rain (and if it does, you'll have fun umbrella photos!). It worked like a charm! We were able to stay at the lighthouse for portraits until we had to get on the bus at 3:45 to make the reception. We hit some rain on our way back to Kennebunkport but by the time we got dropped off at Gooches Beach the skies again were dry but now with a hint of that great dramatic sky I love so much!
Liz & Christine's reception was held at Alisson's Restaurant right in downtown Kennebunkport. It's the perfect space for 30 guests and the food was utterly amazing! During the reception Rev. Dr. Claire Bamberg got up to share with us the unity candle ceremony. It was really nice to have this during the reception because it gave her a chance to explain the details of the ceremony to friends and family as well as no one had to struggle with lighting candles against a blustery day on the ocean. There were two very touching speeches by the Liz's brother and Christine's sister and then it was finally into the cake cutting - which the flower girl had been anxiously awaiting for most of the evening.
