We've Been Published! | The Knot | Farm to Table Wedding
We've been published on The Knot for our Rustic Farm to Table Wedding of Lisa and Jay!
From The Knot: Maine had always been special for Lisa Sydney (a career counselor) and Jay Olman (a data analyst), so when the couple began looking for a place to celebrate their nuptials with their closest family members and friends, Vacationland seemed like the perfect spot. “It’s the first place we vacationed together and we’d each spent a significant amount of time visiting Maine while growing up,” Lisa says. “We wanted to have our wedding somewhere rustic and natural, and Clark’s Cove Farm was a great fit.” Situated on 81 acres, Clark’s Cove Farm in Damariscotta, Maine, boasts rolling meadows, perennial gardens, apple orchards, nature trails and 700 feet of fresh water frontage, making it a picturesque backdrop for the couple’s intimate affair. Taking a cue from their love of nature, as well as the rural locale, Lisa and Jay opted for a palette rich in purple and green hues and accents that highlighted the wedding’s setting. Bright pink and purple blooms from Blue Cloud Farm, a local flower farm, brought Clark Cove’s historic barn to life, while wildflower-accented invitations and herb-inspired table names played up the day’s natural theme. Supporting local vendors and highlighting seasonal flavors was high on Lisa and Jay’s priority list; the couple worked with Cranberry Island Kitchen, Highland Blueberry Farm, Frontier Cafe and Maine Mead Works to create a mouthwatering menu of locally sourced ingredients that went over big with guests. Other details that added a personal feel to the day were the couple’s customized vows, life-size lawn games, surprise pub trivia during the reception and a recipe guest book. A tip from Lisa: “Figure out what's most important to you about your wedding, so you know where you're willing to compromise and where you're not. It's really easy to think, ‘I have to spend so much in order to have the ideal wedding,’ but it's possible to spend less and still have it be a wonderful day. The best advice we got was to take a few minutes during the event to look around and savor the moment—the evening goes by so fast.”
