Irish Heritage Center Wedding with Backyard Tented Reception | Courtney and Austin's Wedding
Courtney and Austin's Irish Heritage Center wedding with backyard Tented Reception was full of happy tears and surprises!
There's nothing more personal than a wedding hosted at your own house and Courtney and Austin had a wonderful family and friend oriented affair at Courtney's parents home in Gorham. The reception was so welcoming that everyone stayed into the wee hours dancing to the band and lounging by the fire pit with smores.
I started with the girls at Courtney's parents home where the entire master suite area was well staged and laid out perfectly for the girls to get ready in. After all the girls were in their dresses and the two bridesmen were in their suites, everyone stepped out so that Courtney's mom and sister could help her into her dress and put the finishing touches on. It was a great moment for just the three of them as they laughed, joked and shared some happy tears. From there we staged the reveal where Courtney's dad, all of her attendants and her future in-laws would come into the room and see her for the first time. I love capturing moments like that because everyone is relaxed and not rushing around doing other things, you get to see everyone's faces and excitement as they see the bride for the first time.
Fast forward to one of my favorite moments of the day, Austin seeing Courtney walk down the aisle. If you've ever been to an Irish Heritage Center Wedding, you know that is a long aisle! It gave us so many opportunities to capture touching moments between Courtney and her father as well as Austin's reaction. I love the way his best man has his hand on Austin's shoulder! It's a true testament to filling your wedding party with those closest to you. Even the officiants big grin is just so expressive!
After the ceremony we all jumped in the limo for a trip up to the East End for a little surprise for the couple. Courtney's mom had been in touch with me within the weeks leading up to the wedding to let me know that everyone had worked to finish up a vintage VW Bug for the couple and it would be waiting for them along the road as a surprise. Everyone piled out of the limo and started heading across the parking lot when the couple just stopped and stared when it clicked that the bug was for them. More happy tears and hugs were exchanged between Courtney and Austin and everyone who had pulled together to get that project done for their day. After the formal portraits were finished the couple jumped in the bug and headed off into the sunset - and their reception.
As you can see from the images below their reception was off the hook! Entertained by the band Kilcollins, bellies filled with delicious food and cake, everyone danced into the late night!
