The Day

The Relevant Workshop was a full day packed with lots of learning from leaders in the New England Wedding industry. It started bright and early at 8am with coffee and donuts - and before any of that we had to register inside the barn. Well, before coffee and donuts I apparently cannot work a simple barn door. You know, those GIANT sliding barn doors. Yea, I tried to pull and push before it clicked in my un-caffienated brain that I had to SLIDE the door. So I totally learned a lot that day, including simple door mechanics.

After an hour of networking and chatting with a wide array of vendors that I had never met before we settled into Jessika Brooks-Brewer's class on "The View from the Top" where I learned the importance ALL us vendors play in making sure Maine is a welcoming environment for our out of state brides. I was surprised to find how everyone's response time can affect every other vendor down the line. I take great pride in responding to my clients and inquiries in under 1 business day!

A quick coffee break and then it was onto Beth Fitzgerald's presentation on Millennials. Another shocking revelation? I'M considered a Millennial! I also learned that the average Millennial has an 11 second attention span, so if you've made it this far into my blog post, you're NOT a Millennial (and you're probably just my mom. Hi Mom!)

Beth was followed by Brea and Meg's presentation on finding your ideal client. Unfortunately by this point in the day I was starting to feel really under the weather so I have all of their materials for identifying our ideal clients but I haven't yet done the work. In finding our ideal client we will make sure to tailor our website and materials to fit their needs!

After a delicious lunch put on by The White Apron Catering we had classes with Abbie McGilvery, Leah Haydock and then a round table discussion on the wedding industry with several other leaders. Unfortunately I had to sneak out because I was really under the weather. But now that I'm on the mend I'm reviewing my notes and writing lots of thank you notes!

Here's hoping we stay Relevant! And I can't wait for another workshop.
