Coronavirus and Your Wedding

I had planned an epic St. Patrick’s Day post for today but are scrapping that to address some more pertinent, but less fun, topics.

Ok so the last thing you need is yet another update on the Coronavirus. My inbox, and I’m sure yours is filled to the brim with everyone’s update - I’m guilty of it. We sent an email out last week about it too.

But, if you’re planning a wedding this year, and we are your photographers I’m sure you have questions! We are around to answer them personally. Trust me. I’m around. With schools closed I’m running a homeschooling operation here and I’d welcome a phone call to chat with an adult who isn’t going to argue about what the recess activities are today.

Step 1: Don’t Panic

  • We are al in this together, we’ve got this! Don’t panic about your wedding. I belong to many vendor groups and we are all trying to navigate what to do. Trust me, every single one of your vendors is still going to want to work with you for your wedding and are doing their absolute best to make everything perfect. It may not be on your original date, but we are all going to work our hardest to make sure it happens!

Step 2: Touch Base With Your Venue

  • Right now, the CDC has recommended no gatherings for 8 weeks. That puts us at about May 10th. If your venue hasn’t reached out to you yet, I recommend doing so to see what your options are. At the time of writing this the gatherings are limited to very small groups - 10 and under. Your venue is going to have some great resources for you, options, available reschedule dates, etc.

  • If you follow us on social media, you know we also do adventure weddings & video. If you’re set on having your wedding on a particular date that can no longer host a large event. Lets chat! We are definitely up for talking about a very personal & small ceremony and portraits on your original wedding date and then covering your celebration later on. It’s very easy for us to keep up “social distancing” while photographing. We recommend working with your original officiant for your ceremony but as a last resort, Brittany was recently ordained and can perform very basic, legally binding ceremonies. (Please check on your marriage license, city halls may not be open so getting your license might be a challenge! - As of the writing of this they are still open)

Step 3: Reach out to your other Vendors

  • Before you go making any solid plans with your venue, touch base with all your other vendors. Get a list of available dates from your venue for your reschedule and then send that along to your other vendors. This way we can all let you know what dates we are available on so you can make the best decision on a reschedule date.

  • We have preemptively opened our remaining 2020 dates to any of our couples that need to reschedule along with all Friday/Sundays in 2021. Currently we are limited in offering Saturdays in 2021 due to bookings.

Step 4: Reschedule, Relax

  • We are all very hopeful that this will be over shortly and we will be able to move on with life as usual. So if you’ve secured your reschedule date, it’s time to kick back and relax. Enjoy your quarantine together, practice social distancing, excessively wash your hands (raise your chapped, dry hands if you’ve been overdoing the sanitizer and washing!!).

We can assure you that we are doing everything within our power to keep all of our couples calm during this time of uncertainty. And I want to let you know just how much we appreciate every single one of you! I can convey that many, if not most, of us in the wedding industry are stressed to the max thinking about our wedding season this year. We rely on the tourist and wedding industries to feed our families, put roofs over our heads, and all of this uncertainty is very unnerving for us as it is for those planning their weddings this year. We are all in this together - even if we are a minimum 6ft apart.

You’re weathering this storm with the one you love and in the end, it’s all going to be alright!
