The Family Experience

Whether you’re looking for your annual family portraits or celebrating a special trip with your extended family, we like to make your overall experience with us as memorable as your images will be!

Since a lot of our families are in town only for a short time on their vacation, we always start by getting to know each other during our initial phone consult. Who will be in your images, are you celebrating a special occasion while you are here, etc.

The day of your portraits, just show up and be prepared for a good time!

Dean and I have two little ones at home so we are familiar with all of the moods kids can go through and we roll with it. The main goal is to have a wide variety of posed and candid images for you by the end of your session. Typically we start with the posed images and get those out of the way, but if your little one isn’t having it, we quickly move on to something else and then circle back to those a bit later.

From your first email all the way through the delivery of your images we are here to help with everything! Upon booking we will work on narrowing down a location for your session based on sunset & tide schedule. If you’re looking for a beach, you might be surprised to find some of our beaches have little to no sand at high tide and we want room to move about! I have a guide I send along that will help when it comes to selecting outfits and I’m always on hand to bounce clothing choices off of so that everyone looks their best the day of.

When your images are hanging on your wall we want you to be transported back to that day and the fun you had with your family!

The Wedding Experience

As your wedding creative team, we take great pride in what we provide to our couples, not only timeless images and films, but an experience and helping hand from our initial meeting all the way through the delivery of your finished images & films. Dean and I listen to your vision, your story, and your concerns and help where needed.

Leading up to your wedding we are on hand with vendor recommendations, with our large coverage area and network, we can connect you with reliable vendors wherever you choose to marry. Dean and I take pride in helping with your day-of timeline making sure we get the images you want, and those family portraits, quickly and efficiently so that you can get back to your guests without missing a beat. We’ve all been to those weddings where it’s time for the reception to start and the couple is no where to be found as they’re off taking photos still. That will not be us! We have had couples dedicate an hour to couples portraits and then we’ve had weddings where mother nature has given us 12 minutes for photos before a deluge of rain.

On your wedding day, think of us as an extension of your wedding party. We’ve been known to sew up a bridesmaids dress, mend a groomsmen’s tux, we know all the tricks for properly pinning a boutonnière, and Dean is our bowtie aficionado for that origami project of a tie.

A lot of our couples choose a destination wedding and we understand that not every family and friend can make your day that’s why we get a sneak peek of highlights up on our blog within 48 hours of your wedding. You’ll have that to share with family and friends until your final finished gallery is delivered both on USB and online gallery for easy sharing. We also offer add-ons like albums and wall art so you can get your images off your computer and displayed in your home.

The Elopement and Adventure Wedding Experience

Some of our couples have stumbled upon having a small wedding because of COVID while others have been planning an Adventure Wedding from the beginning. Whatever your reason, we are here to help make it one of the most memorable days of your life. At the end of the day we want you to look back and think you couldn’t have imagined your day any other way.

From the very beginning we are listening to your ideas, your vision, as well as your concerns and help you plan with location ideas, permit research, vendor recommendations, and anything else you need.

On your wedding day we will be the mother of the bride helping with any zipping and buttoning, your wedding party fluffing your dress, straightening your tie before the 1st look, pinning your boutonnière. We will also be the witness to your marriage license, and in some cases even be the officiant making your wedding legal as Brittany is ordained and can preside over self-guided ceremonies in most places.

When your images and films are delivered, we want you to relive your day with every fine detail and the emotions and love all over again!

FAQs

+ Why did you get into photography?

Fortune and glory kid, fortune and glory. For real? No! During the two years before Brittany started the business there were many important life moments for family and friends that were being photographed and unfortunately for several close friends those photographs fell short of expectations. Those friends, knowing that Brittany had been photographing landscapes and portraits for fun, asked her to reshoot their own images. They were beyond thrilled with her work and that's where she decided to never let anyone feel as let down as those friends. Dean joined in the business a few years in by carrying gear. From there he moved into grabbing a spare camera to have a little fun and he too fell in love with photographing. Now he takes events on his own and has his own projects! There's way more details on our about us page, we just had to work in an Indiana Jones quote somewhere.

+ What kind of gear do you use and are you insured?

We use Sony for both our photo and video work. You can find us both typically working with two cameras each at a time with extra backups on hand as well. Insurance – yes! All of it. Gear insurance, Liability Insurance, etc. If your venue needs that information, let us know! We will have our agents get that to them right away.

+ Do you backup files?

Yes! Our cameras all record to two memory cards at a time. When we get home from your wedding the cards get split up into two different locations and the images backed up on our computer, external drive, external drive in a waterproof/fireproof safe, external drive off-site. And when we finish editing your images – those finished files go online as well. Backing up files is kind of an obsession of ours.

+ How much does photography cost?

That’s a good question. If you’re looking around online you’re probably seeing a wide range of prices. We’ve priced ourselves based on experience, years in the business, quality and services we provide. For family sessions we start at $925 and include the digital files. For weddings we have a wide range of options. Our elopements start at $2600 while our full weddings start at $5100 with the average investment between $6500-$7300. + What about videography?

We love covering weddings with video as well. Right now we are offering video in conjunction with our single photographer package where Brittany is your lead photographer and Dean your lead videographer. If you'd like to have Brittany & Dean as your 2 photographers we have partnered with some amazing videographers we work a lot with to create a custom package!

+ What about including an album?

Over the years we've added in and removed albums from our collections depending on trends happening. But we are team albums. Why? We value albums in our personal life so much - why wouldn't we want them for our couples. Every year we spend about a month putting togther a family album for us and then specialized ones for any vacations we took. They're treasured by everyone in our home and we want you to feel the same way when you share your wedding. Sure, you can show everyone a USB drive or an online gallery, but the album tells your story!

+ Who do we get when we hire Two Adventurous Souls?

We are a wife and husband duo so you get us! We are also expanding with more options with our Associate Photographer collections. When you select your collection there's no "bait and switch" you might see with some larger, multi-photographer companies - with us, you get us!

+ What do you wear when working?

Another great question! For weddings we usually like to blend in and look like a guest. Depending on the weather Brittany is wearing a dress or dress pants and a shirt. Dean loves his bowties so he's usually in a suit. For family sessions Brittany is usually in something a bit more casual as she's laying in the sand, playing in the ocean, maybe even climbing a tree to capture those fun family moments.

+ Do you charge travel?

There are no travel fees for sessions in New England and during our season in Costa Rica. Exceptions might be for multiple day events or on the islands where coverage ends after the last boat for the mainland leaves. For anywhere outside of those areas – lets chat! We are always excited to go new places as it really stokes our creativity.

+ I’d like to customize a wedding package, can I do that?

Certainly! Lets talk. We offer 1 & 2 photographer and videographer packages from elopements all the way through multi-day events. Let us know what you're looking for and we can create something just for you!

+ What if you get injured or can’t make our date?

Brittany has photographed weddings while having morning sickness every three hours, to nursing, to photographing with a sprained ankle – all without missing a beat! If an emergency/injury comes up we will try our absolute best to make your day. We have a network of photographers with a similar style to us we can count on to step in for one or both of us in an emergency and the unlikely event that one or both of us can’t make it. We would still handle all the post-production editing to ensure the images reflect the style you booked!

+ Do you have any vendor recommendations?

Absolutely! After you book your wedding with us, we send along a list of recommended vendors. With our connections to weddings across the country and internationally we can connect you with awesome vendors in any area!
