Popham Beach in Phippsburg, Maine Family Portraits | The C Family
I know I talk about the weather a lot in my blog posts but it’s only because Mother Nature - or rather the forecasters - are messing with me again this year!
I had two days to get this family’s Popham Beach Family portraits in and the 2nd day looked like rain the entire day. But that’s ok because the earlier date we had looked like it would be overcast all day. Perfect for mid-day beach portraits. We checked the weather, 90% cloud cover, perfect! So I jumped in the car. As I entered Phippsburg the skies cleared and we practically had a cloudless sky for their entire session!
Thankfully the beach house that Chelsea and her family had rented was on a private beach (so not a lot of mid-day sun bathers) and angled in such a way I could still get the sun behind them and the water in the background as well. Whew! Typically a full sun, mid-day session on the beach is a recipe for disaster. All of our east facing beaches will put the sun in your eyes in the afternoon if you want the water in the background.
I loved getting to hang out with this family and they really soaked up the sun while it was out. Even bringing their dog, Mrs. Gordie, down to the beach for a few family photos before we got into the candids and playful images with them throwing her toy into the ocean.
I was really impressed with little Mr. C and his RC car. He had that zipping all over the beach, kicking up some really cool sand sprays on the turns. And boy, did Mrs. Gordie LOVE that RC car too!
