Imagination Session | T-Rex Bath Time

So my brain is pretty much fueled by caffeine. If I have too much of it, the ideas pop in rapid fire and I have to write stuff down or it’ll be gone for good. Some days it results in purchasing supplies for multiple creative craft projects that will then sit either half finished or not started at all. Right now I have canvas on my desk for a painting, resin for a resin pour project I want to start, and behind my desk hangs about 10 sun catchers made with crystals, shells and sea glass I’ve collected from the beach.

I’ve got plans! Lots of them.

But one caffeine fueled day I decided I was going to start re-building our Imagination Portfolio. It’s been a hot minute since we had our studio space or done these for clients. I’m always creating them with my kids. They’re getting to the age where it’s a huge inconvenience to want to sit for my ideas. So I sat down, announced a model call and booked a studio rental space all in one day. Because if I didn’t do it immediately, the idea - along with the “free” time - would quickly disappear. Wedding season is rapidly approaching after all.

This was the first idea I brainstormed. Giving a T-Rex a bath. I worked with their mom to come up with some outfit ideas that fit the scene. When working with clients we brainstorm the idea, I create the scene, and then we go over everything together, once that’s set we meet up and photograph the subject to match the lighting in the scene I’ve created. They don’t get to see the entire concept until delivery - I find showing the steps along the way really dulls the surprise and joy at the end. The excitement on the kids faces when they see everything put together is the best!

Because this was a model call, I got to brainstorm some fun ideas. Originally these two were supposed to be giving a dog a bath, but I changed it to a T-Rex. The whole scene was a surprise when they came into the studio!

Our Imagination Sessions come with a lot of hands-on planning. With each collection you get a 16x20 finished art piece to hang on the wall. These sessions really are like commissioning your own painting so the whole experience is catered to your vision, color themes, etc. This is going to be something you have hanging on your walls forever!
