Ogunquit Beach Family Portraits | The B Family
I know just recently I mentioned that extended family portraits have made themselves our “target clients” but don’t get me wrong, I LOVE working with individual families as well.
A rare booking for us though is families with older kids. I think as they get older we schedule family portraits less and less because the kids aren’t that interested in hanging out with their family. As a parent of an almost teenager, I’m guilty of this as well. I think that needs to change! “Hey siri, put in a reminder to schedule our own Maine Family portraits for this summer”
I like to keep all of our family sessions interesting for everyone, older kids are no exception. With these sessions I don’t have to bounce around making weird noises to keep the kids attention - or do I? One of the fun things I get to do with older kids is, at the end of the session, when we play in the water it’s the parents who get to splash (and maybe dunk) the kids instead of the little kids getting to splash their parents.
It’s always a surprise for the older kids and I love the reactions I get. For the B’s ogunquit family portraits their daughters were so surprised but the oldest decided, after she was already soaked, that she was just going to go full on in the water for a quick dip!
As I mention many many times during our consults - bring a spare set of clothes!
