P Family at Ferry Beach Scarborough, Maine
Being that I’m in a tourist area, most of the families that hire us for portraits tend to be tourists that are vacationing here one year and then somewhere else another. So I get really excited that over the years I’ve gotten a few families that come back to Maine year after year.
The P Family is one of the families I get to see every year and watch the kids grow. Every year they want to try a new location so I’m always getting to think about new places to go or head back to a location I haven’t been to in a while.
This year their session lined up perfectly with low tide so that meant that Ferry Beach in Scarborough would work out great! With lots of sand for walking along the ocean, hermit crabs and tide pools. It was such a great night and the light, even with a storm rolling in, was just beautiful. Sometimes when I’m out working with a family for their session inspiration hits on a pose that just makes me think “Fine Art”. I love how the boys were all grouped together pointing out the hermit crabs to each other. It was a gorgeous, genuine moment between them. When I got home I sat down and played around a bit more with this image pulling out the colors that were in the clouds and increasing the shade of blue in the water. Nothing was artificially added, it was all there very subtle, I just thought this particular image warranted some fine artsy touches!
