The A Family's Foggy Family Portraits at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse

I drove through four different types of weather to get to this Pemaquid Lighthouse Family portrait. It started off just overcast, then by the time I hit route 1 it was full sun (not good for a mid-day family portrait!), a little further up the highway I hit rain, then back to overcast as I got off the highway (the weather we planned for). Then it was a surprise to hit the coast and be socked in by the soupiest fog! The park ranger at the front gate laughed when I leaned out the window and said “So they tell me there’s an ocean out there.”

Thankfully this family was game for this foggy and damp weather and didn’t let it dampen their spirits. It did change a bit of how I photograph simply because if I got too far away from them the images got super hazy! We still got in all their requested combinations and then some candids of everyone on the rocks. Even managed to nab a good reflection of the lighthouse in the puddle that seems to always be there. If you’ve been there, you know it! There’s always someone photographing there - whether it’s a landscape to capture a unique angle of the lighthouse or in my case, a family portrait where little Miss could play in a puddle!
