Bar Harbor Surprise Proposal | Nick and Jess in Southwest Harbor
Bar Harbor, actually all of Mount Desert Island, is my favorite spot for surprise proposals! Also a bit trickier than average because cell service is very sparse on the island. We ran into that issue with Nick and Jess’s proposal but I’m so happy with how it all worked out!
Originally Nick wanted to propose along the Ship Harbor Trail on the quietside of the island but as you can see, when Jess started to get ready she wasn’t prepared for a hike. Without giving away why they absolutely had to go hike, Nick quickly texted me that he was going to propose at their hotel. I was hanging out and enjoying the view at an overlook and didn’t have any cell service! Because I’m a big planner I was headed to the trail super early and just as I got to the trailhead, my cell dinged with the new plans - We still had an hour before go time so with a few quick texts, I headed over to The Claremont where Nick and Jess were staying and set up down by the beach.
After a few minutes Nick and Jess came for their walk on the beach while I “photographed the boats”. On their walk over to the end of the beach, Nick dropped down on one knee and totally took Jess by surprise!
It was so much fun working with these two and touring around Southwest Harbor!
