Sarah and Michael's 1774 Inn Wedding in Phippsburg, Maine
Bringing all their family in to celebrate in their new home was top of the list for Sarah and Michael as they were planning their wedding. A venue literally down the street from their house caught their eye and their wedding at the 1774 Inn was born!
There were so many personal touches throughout their day it’s going to be hard to list them all but I will try!
Both Sarah and Michael started out the day at the Inn but Mike had to quickly sneak out with his groomsmen and a few friends to go jump in the ocean before they came back to get ready. I’m super bummed we weren’t yet at the property for that! Adding that to our questionnaire so we make sure we capture that moment next time.
While Mike was out jumping in the ocean, Sarah was up in the main apartment above the barn getting her hair and make up done with her sisters and bridesmaids. There was definitely some makeup lessons happening as her nieces and nephew joined in with everyone and had to know what was going on!
Sarah had a special surprise for her mom so we had to sneak around the inn so we didn’t run into Mike but also so Sarah’s mom didn’t see her dress before she was in it. She had her moms wedding dress re-made into a modern design for her to wear! It was such a sweet moment when her mom came into the room and saw Sarah in the dress! Pretty much everything on the dress was the same except for the neckline and cap sleeves, those were reimagined by Sarah’s designer.
Then Sarah was off to surprise Mike at their first look down by the dock. They shared their personalized vows and then took some time to take in the gorgeous scenery before heading up for family portraits and ceremony.
For yet another personal touch, Mike’s stepmom was the officiant for the wedding. Adding in some fun moments with stories from a few of their friends and family and a reading as well.
Once they exchanged rings and their first kiss, the party started and went all night long!
