Backyard Tented Wedding | Thompson Lake Wedding | Melanie and Steve
Melanie knew Steve was the one the day she met him. They were both working at a job that, according to Melanie’s dad, they wouldn’t wish on anyone else. But to her dad’s surprise she wanted to stick it out - it may have been because she had met “the one” at the office. The day Melanie met Steve at work she talked to her Dad on the phone that night and told him if Steve asked her to marry him she’d say yes that day. Well here they are!
We first met Melanie years ago at her brother's wedding and I remember telling Dean afterwards I hope we get to photograph their entire families weddings because they were all so much fun to be around. Steve and Melanie definitely brought the fun for their wedding. Immediately upon talking to them and finding out that they each had 9 attendants each we knew we were in for a huge party crowd.
Throughout the evening the guests learned so much about Melanie and Steve because so many personal touches were put into their day. The entire wedding celebration was centered around the family lake house on Thompson Lake where Melanie and her siblings spent their summers learning to swim, paddle board, waterski, and even wake surf. Steve, growing up in Massachusetts, was more of an “ocean guy” but after meeting Melanie he is 100% a lake guy now. And according to Melanie’s dad, Steve owns pretty much all the “Thompson Lake” merch and wears it often. Not only did Melanie’s family and their lake life rub off on Steve, Steve’s sense of fashion rubbed off on the guys in Melanie’s family. According to her maids of honor, her sister Monica and sister in law Sarah, all the guys in Mel’s family picked up Steve’s keen fashion sense and the hemline of their shorts have “risen about 6” all around”.
All of the speeches from their evening brought laughs and tears to everyone’s eyes. Seeing how much their family and friends adore these two was so great! And with everything the couple has endured over the past year - this is their THIRD wedding date and on top of everything Melanie took the Bar Exam just two weeks ago - Melanie and Steve definitely earned this party!
