Anna and Drew's Summer Colony Hotel Wedding | Kennebunkport Maine
I don’t even know where to begin to describe Anna and Drew’s Colony Hotel wedding from this past week! There were so many great moments and lots of smiles and laughs. I can definitely say my face hurt by the time we got home from all the smiling!
Anna and Drew had a subtly themed wedding - Star Wars! It’s funny, but when it comes to all the theme weddings out there, we always end up with the Star Wars ones. I’m not complaining! We are definitely nerds at heart so these are our people.
The day started with Anna getting ready in the Oak Room of the Colony with her mom, sisters, and a few friends. When I arrived they were rocking out to some 2010’s club music to really set the mood and get everyone pumped for the day.
Hair and makeup were just wrapping up so I started in on the details like Anna’s dress hanging in the window and her gorgeous shoes! This week was certainly the week of amazing bridal shoes. While the girls were prepping in the big room the guys were down the hall putting on the finishing touches to their outfits including Star Wars themed tie clips and cuff links.
Once Anna and Drew were ready they had an emotional first look on the lawn by the ceremony site. With severe thunderstorms looming, we wanted to make sure we got as many photos as possible outside before we had to head in.
Thankfully the Colony was very accomodating and waited until the very last minute to call whether the ceremony would be inside or out. The storm was holding off so outside it was!
With Star Wars being the theme of the day, it was only natural that the wedding party walked down the aisle to the score. What a way to start their dramatic ceremony! I say dramatic, but the only drama was in the clouds that filled the sky over the ocean for this Colony Hotel wedding.
We lucked out immensely as the couple said their “I do’s” the wind kicked up and everyone headed down the aisle and back under the cover of the building as the raindrops began to fall. As everyone headed inside and over to the cocktail hour it poured buckets. Had the ceremony been 3 minutes longer, we would have all been drenched. Talk about good luck!!
As family and friends enjoyed the apps and signature cocktails on the patio, the rain cleared again and we were able to take Anna and Drew onto the beach for some pre-sunset photos before getting them back to an evening of dancing and lightsaber battles on the dance floor.
With rainstorms we often get clearing just as the sun sets which leads to the most amazingly colorful sunsets ever. Luck was with us all day (or the force was, willing good weather). It was such an amazing day with these two!
