Rachel and Meghan's Stage Neck Inn Wedding | York Maine Wedding Photographers

Any wedding that involves an airhorn, nods to hockey, and some Dropkick Murphys during the reception is a wedding we want to be at!

Meghan and Rachel had to move their original wedding date from this past Spring to late Summer Friday and they couldn’t have lucked out better. Their new wedding day just happened to be a gorgeous slice of Maine summer sandwiched between a dreary, cold day and a torrential downpour day. They were able to celebrate in the sun with close family and friends and then spend the day after their wedding relaxing and then celebrating some more as the Bruins played Saturday evening beating the Tampa Bay Lighting. And we know from some of the masks we saw on their wedding day that there was definitely a bunch of Bruins fans in the family!

Despite being a bit later in the season than originally intended everything about Meghan and Rachel’s day was perfect! We are so lucky that a lot of our couples have chosen to pivot their original plans to something smaller and more personal. Because their guest list unfortunately had to be shrunk to meet Maine’s guidelines on gatherings, they were able to visit every single guest and have meaningful conversations. We all know from larger events, it can be hard for the couple to get to visit and really catch up with everyone who came to celebrate. It’s such a positive aspect of this new shift for weddings and events.

Meghan and her dad, along with Rachel and her dad shared their first father daughter dance before switching it up and dancing with each other’s respective dad and then moving seamlessly into their first dance as a married couple. Then Meghan’s parents shared a dance to a song they danced to at their own wedding 40+ years ago! We are absolutely loving the smaller weddings we’ve had this year!

How did Meghan and Rachel meet?

Playing hockey of course! Rachel ended up playing on the same team as one of Meghan’s friends and their relationship was set into motion at the friends birthday party, when Meghan learned that Rachel was single. With no better way to get in touch, Meghan resorted to sending a Facebook message (which she’ll never live down). A post-game drink followed by a first date with musical bingo, a Bruins playoff second date, and the rest was history!
