Westin Portland Harborview wedding of Deirdre and Joseph
With a nod to Game of Thrones during their wedding ceremony and some elvish and Irish in their vows - we knew this couple was just made for us to photograph!
Deirdre and Joseph first met while attending camp as teens at Maine Teen Camp in Porter so that was naturally the most perfect place to start their wedding day! After the girls finished up hair and make up we all piled into the cars and headed out for everyone to get ready in the cabins at the camp.
While Deirdre and Joe were getting ready they added so many personal touches to their day. Deirdre wore several rings with significant meaning for her and her family and she accented her gorgeous dress by restringing her mother’s wedding day pearls to add in gold beads. Her wedding bouquet had charms of all her loved ones added to it as well. Joseph also added in a pin to his lapel that was for Deirdre’s family and an heirloom pocket watch that’s been passed down for over 100 years!
At the camp, Deirdre and Joseph had their first look out on the docks followed by a quick game of “Rock, Paper, Scissors” to decide who got to read their vows first. They exchanged such meaningful, personalized vows on the shores of the lake that included a bit of Irish and Elvish along with lots of laughter!
Following their first look and family portraits at the lake everyone headed in to Cornish for a delicious lunch at Krista’s before heading back into Portland for their ceremony. Deirdre and Joseph had their camp director and friend officiate their ceremony and a few readings from family members as well. Even one that made their officiant break out and pass around the tissues! Their rings were delivered in such a fun nod to Game of Thrones - and their engagement - via golden dragon egg that Joe had worked tirelessly on himself!
So many personal elements were included in Deirdre and Joseph’s day, we loved every minute of it!!
